Ideas for a Summer Time Wedding

It is official, summer has arrived and it is the perfect time to get married under the beautiful stars in the beautiful Southern California weather!
Here in sunny California the summertime opens your options to so many wedding locations. You can have your wedding at the beach, the lake, a garden, a ranch or even a backyard tent. Having an outdoor wedding can be very beautiful and incredibly romantic as you watch the sunset and have your first dance under the starry night sky. The summer weather also brings beautiful flowers in season and it is a great time to travel to tropical destinations for your honeymoon or stay local if you choose.
However, summertime also brings some challenges that need to be taken into consideration when planning a summer wedding. So here is a list of tips for all you brides to keep in mind that will help you avoid wedding disasters.
1. When sending invitations make sure you let your guests know that the wedding will be outdoors this way your guests will dress accordingly.
2. The summer heat can get a bit intense here in Southern California, so DO provide some type of heat relief. It is important for guests to have a way to escape the hot weather in some way. Efficient ways to do this include tents or shady locations, cold beverages and cold hand towels.
3. Make sure you have a final walk through at your venue to see what you will need to keep your guests in a very comfortable environment and most important for your guests to be in a good mood. We all know that in some areas in Southern California it can get very hot and you definitely do not want your family and friends to feel miserable. You want them to enjoy this very special day with you.
4. Safe Lighting!!! Once the sun goes down, you want to make sure you do not leave your guests in the dark. Hire a professional lighting company who will educate you with some great and creative ideas on how to use your lighting to make your outdoor wedding safe, romantic and beautiful.
5. Avoid a melting Wedding Cake!!! Make sure your cake is placed in a very cool area. You do not want your cake to melt before cutting it. Your cake is always admired by your family and guests and you definitely do not want to have a Cake Disaster at your beautiful wedding. Another great option during summer is wedding cupcakes! Less chances for disasters.
6. Summer Food: Ask your wedding caterer or chef for lots of choices of foods that are appropriate for summer and outdoor weddings. Some great suggestions are fresh fruit bars and water stations throughout the venue.
